Unshakable Assurance; one of The Greatest Gifts Anyone Can Possess.

Dog Poet Transmitting.......

I had told myself I would not return to the dis-United States. My first efforts at avoiding that were a disaster resulting in a broken hip and a loss of most of my revenue, stashed at odd moments in anticipation of what I had been told was coming and then I was shown you can't rely on any plans you may have made yourself; as has been the case through my life... and from what I understand, the lives of many of you as well.

Then I thought, perhaps Hawaii, which lured at me like a siren's song backed by a Brazilian jazz trio; the promise of old friendships and creative collaborations That ended badly as well and... for some reason, thefts... this time stripped me of nearly everything I had left. Then the ineffable stepped in and said, “all of these conditions are now past and you will not suffer them again. A new chapter is begun.” So it came to pass and has continued to this point. What's the message in all of this? The message is what I should have learned a long time ago and it was what I had been being told for several years already, “Rely on me.” IF a person who is told this... or IF there is a person who KNOWS this then... one's concerns cease the moment this has been sincerely set in motion. If a person hears this and does not advantage themselves of it, then circumstances will be initiated to bring that person into a fuller awareness of the inevitability of it taking place and... those circumstances can be onerous, depending on how hard headed one is... or whatever the reasons may be. I speak from direct experience in this regard.

It is only later... unfortunately... when we realize that we were being guided and that we had strayed. Oh... it could have been with the best of intentions and it could have been free of any selfish intent but... it was not what would have happened if we had left it in the care of the one who is at the beginning and end of everything. I was once told... and not that long ago... “do not concern yourself with good and evil anymore. These are arbitrary at best and exist at the whim of those setting the general parameters for the public cooperation in the fulfilling of their agenda. The real nature and essence of good and evil are only known to the ineffable and for those who reside beneath the shelter of his protection they are of no concern.”

You are going to find at these blogs that they will be increasingly more and more about the divine and how he has chosen to inform the writer and what he has chosen to inform him of, within the limitations of what the writer is able to understand. When commentary about the world and its doings appear in these blogs, it will be only to illustrate them through the ever adjusting lens of perception, concerning what the ineffable has chosen to reveal to the writer. We can make no claim to being correct about anything. We just do the best we can and if you have come this far with us then you trust us to some degree. I recommend that you do not trust us or anyone, completely. If you are human, the capacity for error is always present. This is why the ancient wise have always admonished us to test the integrity of everything we choose to believe. Accept nothing without inquiry. You are a fool if you do.

I encourage the readers to seek for the ineffable within, with an intensity greater than their passion for, or curiosity about, anything else. Perhaps you are aware of the reason for this, perhaps not. We will seek to clear that up now; anything you seek... anything you wish for... anything you desire and so much that there is, which you are, as yet, unaware of, are in the possession of the ineffable AND none of them can be appreciated or enjoyed without the consent of the ineffable. Lacking that... it would be better that you had never acquired any of it at all. Depending on how badly you wanted it, that is how great the disappointment will be.

Not only are these statements true about the ineffable but it is important to note that the ineffable is intimately aware of you in a way greater than you are or may ever be. Because of this, the ineffable knows what is best for you, personally (as opposed to what the case may be for anyone else... and it is different in every case), so... why would anyone, so informed, take any other action except to place their life and destiny and fate in the hands of the ineffable, if it is true that the ineffable knows all (and he does) and has limitless power (and he does) and means well on our behalf (which he does) and can and will act in our interest to the degree that we place our interests in the competent hands of the ineffable? And... this is true. This is true.

One would have to be insane or deluded (and most of us are) to do anything other than to commit ourselves to the far greater wisdom and intelligence of the ineffable on our behalf. If one were motivated to read the statements made by Jesus Christ as an avatar, Lord Krishna as the Supreme Personality of God, of any mystic or poet from Lao Tzu to Rumi, or any philosopher from Soren Kierkegaard to Ralph Waldo Emerson and so many from the ancient times, they all, in one fashion or another, speak to the greatness of the ineffable and the wisdom of surrender to the ineffable.

Speaking only for myself, I will state unequivocally that among those just named are some number of men who were and perhaps always will be wiser than I. I have discovered the truth of this; the greatness of the ineffable and the wisdom of surrender to the ineffable. Imagine the more extreme clarity of these other minds in respect of the ineffable. Since I have found to be true what all of them proclaimed to be true... well, I also consider 'these truths to be self evident' depending on what your 'self' is so... there's no hesitation on my part, not now. I wonder why there ever was? There are forces loose in this world and... in us, should they find access and they do find access. It is all a part of 'innocence lost'. This, it seems, we could not evade but... innocence regained... regenerated innocence, then becomes the goal of one's existence, unless it is not and sadly, far too often these days, it is not.

Did I discover something earthshaking and new? NO... I did not, except as regards myself. Otherwise, I have simply had what I already knew in the way that I knew it, made clear to me in a way it had not been previously. I have also had the affirmations of all those great minds brought to my attention in a unique and powerful way. How could I have been so stupid and confused? This is what I ask myself. How is it that I persisted in traveling on a course with no fixed destination, when the greatest architect of all had offered to chart my course? There are forces loose in the world around us and within us, when they have access and that accounts for all that we are when we are not ourselves. Herein is the problem with the world we live in and those who live in the world. They are not themselves, although the world is exactly what it is; the perpetuating mask that obscures the light of the ineffable and that is why we must seek it's shining within. It is not in the world. It is not in some deep cavern, at the bottom of the sea, or anywhere else but within you and it is hidden within, as well as if it were hidden somewhere in the world and we did not know where it was.

The light within has a homing device that begins to operate the moment our attention is turned toward the discovery of it. There is a way that is certain and direct but... we are neither certain, nor direct, except in very special cases and so we are led... in part by the compassionate heart of the ineffable and in part via our own fumbling presumptions on where it may lie and what we have told ourselves it is composed of. In both cases we are destined to be proven wrong and the sooner we make ourselves aware of that or allow ourselves to be made aware of it, the sooner we find ourselves on the direct and certain way, while becoming one of those special cases.

Our minds are the playground of a monkey and our desires are the hungers of a dog. Neither the monkey nor the dog are capable of comprehending what needs to be understood. The dog is capable of absolute loyalty and it is here where the dog can prove fortunate by having the right master. The monkey, were it capable of becoming still, would no longer be a monkey.

I hope this departure from what you might usually expect at Smoking Mirrors has not proven to be a disappointment. I look forward with the keenest hope that the practice of the presence of the ineffable and the love of the ineffable will consume your heart and mind and grant you that unshakable assurance which is one of the most priceless possessions anyone can acquire.

End Transmission.......

In the realm and land of perpetual inconvenience. What blows me away is we allegedly know so much before we come here, and we come here to forget all and find our way back again? Ya know, that reminds me of doing something like flying west instead of East from Frisco to get to New York.

Then again, I'm here because of ego. I had something to prove. A chip on my shoulder, so to speak. At least I had the privilege of having my faced rubbed in that during my NDE. And I have come to the conclusion that every subatomic particle and what they compose that is here is a masochistic idiot for volunteering to be here, and I guess that 'tude means this is my last round on the ferris wheel in HELL.

Good column, Vis. My 'education' about listening to the ineffable took the form of ever-more-subtle hints. I used to have to be whacked with something physical happening to get-it. Then, I progressed to getting-it in a sit-you-up-in-bed nightmare. After that, I got-it in more-subtle dreams. Then, just transitioning to a meditative/receptive state sufficed. Eventually, you learn to walk-around in a half-meditative state. Learning to listen. It was all about wearing-down Ray's resistance to listening...

As far as spiritual figures or archetypes, I currently find myself 'drawn' to ancient Buddhist priest/warriors who would go into the wilderness and confront powerful entities. In a way, this speaks to Kazz' question a few columns back about not confronting violence with violence. The Way of these Buddhist priest/warriors was to confront the baddie in such a way that the baddie became Enlightened and ceased negative deeds. To repeat, the baddie was not conquered or vanquished; he/she/it was transformed from within, and thus the outer actions changed.

Like Kazz, I wondered for a long time how to produce change without inflicting further damage in doing so.* Little did I know, the ineffable was guiding me along a 'path' to understand how to do this. So, Vis' "let go and let God" approach does work, even if unseen amidst the forest of life...

In my case, it had to do with recognizing the old-pain held first in myself and then in others. This was on a visceral level (applied empathy), not an intellectual level. Then, how to strip the old-pain off - either through feeling-through or sending-back-to-God. Finally, there was a crash-course in both moving-through different consciousness-levels, and how to moor oneself to another (at their consciousness level) to accomplish the work. Much of this, of course, was under the direction of Higher Self rather than Ray. Ray contributed stubbornness and intent...

Just in the last few weeks, I actually grokked (hi, LtPtB!) what Enlightenment actually means. It means a fully-functional connection with your Higher Self. In most of us (including me), there was 'damage' accumulated on our way down to earth-plane. If the damage was sufficient, it blocked-off the "still small voice." There were now two disconnected 'entities' wandering-around - lower and higher selves - with no communication between them. Enlightenment was simply doing (or having-done) the work to re-establish the free flow, thus producing a 'blending'. And the Presence of HS feels very good, too.

So, Kazz was actually right. Using violence against violence just adds to the accumulated-pain and further shuts-off the communication between lower and higher selves. But we don't have to 'settle' for inaction. There IS a method to get the baddies, while actually making the universe lighter. If you find that is your 'passion', you may find yourself drawn into being a 'modern' ancient Buddhist priest/warrior...

Best Wishes,
Ray B.

* One episode of the very-thoughtful TV series "Dharma and Greg" had me on the spears of a conundrum for decades. In it, Dharma ran-across a (female) martial arts teacher who was poaching Dharma's yoga students and instilling fear in them. Dharma confronted this woman, had a philosophical discussion with her, and then the martial arts teacher beat her up. Greg later did a 'white knight' and was also beaten-up. The episode ended with no 'closure' about how not to meet violence with violence. Plus, how to remain higher-consciousness without (ultimately) being a victim. That episode had me tossing and turning for years...

Les, another Great article on your Epic journey home to be one with the ineffable!! There has been a lot of synchronicity of late in my life, the list being 'go with the flow', 'Let go and Let God', 'Live and let Live 'which are the top credos, among many, I've learned to live by being in and around recovering people who have been to hell and back, their and my explanation of spirituality.
Ray B., Glad to see you are back. I've been wondering about you this past week and lo and behold others mentioned it and you make an outstanding comment. It has warmed my heart to know you are still out and about and still totally Ray B.!!!
Kaz, God bless you, your family and our friends on Les' unbelievable yet totally truthful tomes of pure gold.

Dear Visible,

I try to remember to have faith, be still and all is revealed. It was so once, for a short while. It's the only thing I want.

Ray B, aloha again. Happy to see your post today. Definitely.

Sounds like a very annoying episode of D & G. Never saw one. Haven't had a TV for over 20 years.

I deal with the world by withdrawing from it in all ways I can. Sometimes circumstances do make it hard, however. What do you do when a girl in a store walks up to you in a Dollar Tree and whispers, "I'm hungry."? I was glad I had a lot of hours on my check that week. . .statistically for my part time job.

My job. Thank the gods I'm no longer a dishwasher unless there's an emergency. Am now a janitor 99.9% of the time. I'd much rather work in high 70 or low 80 degree temps than 120. Reality creation at work. (Or is it a case of 'ask and ye shall receive? Seems to be working here and there with some degree of reliability if my motives are right.) Not to mention the new dishwasher hired to replace me is total eye candy, though I wish he'd listen to me and talk slower. My Spanish sucks. None of the dishwashers speak a lick of English, though they are legal. They're all planning on going back to Mexico when they have enough money saved up, so they're not motivated to learn English. They're also very sweet, and the lead is hilarious.

Hello Vis and all.
Glad to have more of the old commenters back, and a great column talking about our favorite subject here for those that understand of such.
You wrote "Our minds are the playground of a monkey and our desires are the hungers of a dog. Neither the monkey nor the dog are capable of comprehending what needs to be understood."
Since it is said that each one of us is three things, or has three minds if you wish, is there something missing in your allegory? A monkey, a dog and a ?. A donkey which carries you around and which you have to feed perhaps?
Sorry if this feels like a correction, it is not intented as such, just my wondering what your third animal would be if you agree that we are indeed three as so many great minds have stated in the past.
Cheers

It is time dearly beloved Les Visible to comprehend and express that your ineffable is YOUR PERSONAL INDWELLING FRAGMENT OF FATHER. It is YOURS ALONE. IT IS YOUR ADVISOR and thus I suppose these lessons are given to you when you did not listen WITHIN. YOUR PERSONAL DAD spoke to you...Love.. KAN DAEK of ABUNDANTHOPE

A new Petri Dish is up now-

Something Very Strange is Walking Sideways, on the Inside and The Outside.

Visible said...

In my latest posting at Petri Dish I referred to an exchange that began at my Facebook page in a public way... now it is here in these comments, telling me that I should change what I do and how I say what I say. It always amazes me when people who know so little about me have such an intimate and comprehensive awareness of what takes place in my life, my mind and my heart. I'm even getting it in capital letters. I don't know where you are getting your information from but I am going to stick 'entirely' with what I hear internally. I mean no disrespect by this and have no confrontational aspect to my present state of mind. I'm fine but... I am going to go with what I hear within. Should what I hear within start to mirror what I am hearing from without then one can be certain I will make whatever adjustment is necessary.

I'm still wondering about this comment above "Unshakable assurance only comes from one name---a name you never choose to speak. Seeya."

It sounds like troll-work, especially when statements are made but the information alluded to is not present.

I thank God that I am untroubled by anything anymore except that I am less consistent in practicing the presence than I wish I were.

LTPTB; I am really glad to hear that you have been promoted from dishwasher to janitor (grin). You always bring a unique perspective to things regardless of the Vonnegut cynicism.

Ray B. said...

Yeah, LtPtB is one of those 'hard coatings with a soft center' types (grin). Her caring seeps-beyond her words...

(LtPtB, on your "I'm hungry" experience, I was walking down the hall of my building thinking on all sorts of trivial things. Then, I passed-by a lady walking with a leg-replacement prosthesis. Sort of put everything in perspective for me. And congrats, I hope, on your promotion!)

Best Wishes,
Ray B.

Love To Push Those Buttons said...

Thanks all. It's not really a 'promotion'. Before I was dishwasher/janitor, now I'm janitor with more hours, same pay. It's a HELL of a lot easier being a janitor than dishwasher. And I remember on my second week on the job not quite two years ago, I not only had a major dish drop that cost the restaurant a couple hundred bucks, but I downed the dish washer on a party night. But hey. My boss not only didn't kill me (obviously), but she's actually joined The Holey Order of the Septum.

Now as a janitor, my boss has me do some things that no one has done before to give me more hours, and I caused my boss a panic since I tripped a circuit breaker by doing something in the wrong way. She fixed it in about 20 minutes though, after I told her it must be the circuit breaker on why I lost the light and one of the big refrigerators.

Oh well. I won't do again what I did. (Bad aim with the water hose.)

Vis-
That see ya dude has to be a fundie, the name he's looking for is probably Jesus. So he's gone. As I begin to imagine the limitless power of creation, the known Universe or even a single star, I get the feeling that the ineffable doesn't call itself Ralph or something.

Definitely playing with two minds here, boss. BUT! Can quickly spot when the monkey grabs center stage. Fear, anger, even excitement are that guy.
You know, reading of Dharma's problem and wondering how to deal with a stronger violent thief I am reminded of the scumbag that cold cocked Visible in Hawaii. He won the battle, could have killed our dog poet... But then what? That dude is nothing. Nothing at all. Visible is still writing and better than ever. I don't think you can harm the innocent, the real harm we can only do to ourselves.

Thoughts?

I ran across this:

"The wonderful part of this revelation was that it told me that even though my soul had reached the end of its ability to have faith, my spirit was undisturbed and unmoved. My spirit knew the truth, and no adverse circumstance could shake it from its rest in the knowledge of God. Then I thanked God that my relationship with Him and my destiny itself did not depend upon my soul’s faith or its ability to believe truth. My spirit was bigger than my soul, and all I had to do was to identify with my spiritual man."

and got the impression you two were talking about the same thing, just using different words. "My spirit" seems to me to be what some of you refer to as - higher self.

Visible said...

Matt; That is exactly what I thought. What confused me is that I mention Jesus Christ and quote him more than anyone else at my sites.

Odd.

Visible said...

Messianicdruid;

Who are you referring to with this?

"you two were talking about the same thing."

Alan Donelson said...

Les Visible -- a wonderful and memorable moniker! -- I too have turned and set sights on home. Like a well flung boomerang, I curved my path, then curved it some more, and, having completed seven 10-year cycles -- more likely, 10 seven-year cycles -- have come to substantially similar conclusions as you so precisely articulate with your uniquely personal style. Home is just ahead, the long and winding road, replete with crumbs of bread I left in my dusty dry, thirsty wake, stretches to practical infinity behind, and, as that masked man named "Bob Dylan" "movied" -- he may not have written the stellar lyrics attributed to him, per Miles Mathis, who pointed the finger at others of the same "ilk" (Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen)-- DON'T LOOK BACK, a perhaps not-so-veiled reference to Sodom and Gomorrah.

Thank you very much for this post, your prior excellent and uplifting work. I too now have a better defined mission, as I allow the ineffable more space to take up residence in heart and other compartments.

Ray B. said...

Vis, Alan Donelson just mentioned "Miles W. Mathis". I'd like your considered opinion on him, if you have read about him or know about him.

I discovered Mathis a few months back. I have read around forty of his pieces, and am both impressing and of mixed-feelings so far. The "man" is obviously brilliant, well read, and approaches declared-history with a Sherlock Holmesian point-of-view. His thesis is that most of history is 'made-up' and 'manipulated-into-being', often at the hands of the merchant/industrial classes which are often headed by various Tribal entities. I can agree with a fair percentage of what he lays-out.

However, I have a strange feeling in my gut. It could just be my ego rebelling against so many 'props' being kicked-out from under it in a short time. Or, it could be a sense that this is yet-another Intel operation designed to introduce Chaos and undermine the personality. Brain-f__king, in other words...

Any thoughts?

Best Wishes,
Ray B.

I guess I took this "...well, I also consider 'these truths to be self evident' depending on what your 'self' is so... there's no hesitation on my part,.." to mean there was a bit of ambiguity concerning the interplay of mind, consciousness, soul and spirit in the same way as Mr. Jones. Perhaps this was presumptuous.

Messianicdruid; I have no idea what this refers to. I've done ten thousand things since whatever this was took place. HOWEVER, I do remember doing something and I do remember that I was in good spirits and maybe teasing a little in a real Sesame Street way.
